Blogs
Boy, do I ever suck at maintaining a blog!
So I was all gung ho at the idea of maintaing a travel blog but then the reality is that I was already tweeting and facebooking my adventures to my friends and to also keep up with a blog was just too much of a pain in the butt. It felt too much like work and I was on vacation so I decided to scrap it. I still tweeted my butt off and uploaded all sorts of fun stuff for my peeps on facebook though so I wasn't a complete epic failure.
Thanks again to the fine folks at JetBlue for offering this pass. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and am waiting with baited breath for the next time it's offered so I can say Hasta La Vista, Baby! to my work and to my real life, and just go travel around and visit friends and new exotic places again.

There's absolutely no law stating that the first blog entry must be an introduction of its author(s). But I'm just that type of sucker that likes such formality. So I feel semi-obligated to do this. (And thank you for tediously reading.)

It's been difficult to find out who is going where and what other jetters are up to, but I compiled a list to help out some of the pass holders who might feel out of the loop.

It's beautiful here in Aruba. I arrived shortly after noon and just sped through customs. Jumped in a taxi to my hotel on Eagle Beach, thank goodness I don't have to exchange currency here.
The taxi driver said the temperature was 100˚. It felt like ~90˚ because the air is so dry here. Fortunately, the ocean water was comfortably cool. The ocean was calm, many shades of blue, and totally relaxing.
A few hours later a lightning storm came through and now I'm just waiting for the weather to lighten up so I can walk to the beach a little bit more to find an interesting and relatively cheap place for dinner.
Snorkeling and horseback riding and caviar...Oh my!
Yesterday was filled with lots of fun in the sun. I slathered myself in SPF 50 and am happy to report that I'm as pasty white as ever!! Some people's goal is to come back from the beach with a nice golden brown tan...however, for some of us who only burn, a tan is a mere pipedream unless it's from a bottle. And I tried that once and I just looked splotchy and dirty...so white it is!

Temps are in the 90's and the sand is HOT! Water = perfect. I've been overeating at the all you can eat buffet...which I knew would happen. Take the boy out of the Midwest but can't take the Midwest out of the boy. haha Good news though is that they also have tons of fresh fruit: mangos (favorite), papaya, pineapple, and watermelon...so it's not all bad.

I arrived at my hotel today in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and was informed that I needed to check in over in an entirely different "Premium" area. Seems somewhere along the way I was bumped up to a Premium status reservation. What does this mean, exactly? It means that in addition to the all you eat, all inclusiveness that everyone enjoys, I also have access to a completely separate area of the resort where only Premium members can enter. They have a snack bar and top shelf drinks and both are complimentary. Sweet and SWEET! Also, I now get wifi free of charge...again SWEET!

Well, today I was able to jet between LAX and JFK and then up to BUF. I had my counts as to the number of #AYCJers, but only 1 talked to me. Most didn't seem really interested in chatting when they came back to the galley, and obviously, are just doing it to get a lot of travel for a fair amount of money.
The one gentleman I did get a chance to talk to, was just using it for his weekly flights back and forth between his home in NY and his office in LA. Makes sense, and it's a great way to minimize your expenses for the month, and fairly flexible.
Other than that, on the JFK-BUF leg, I didn't have much time to visit and the people using their passes were quite content watching TV on our 53 minute flight.

I bought a netbook computer from Best Buy...and an external cd reader/writer, and some flash drives, and a netbook case.
I ran around getting little errands done that I have to do before I leave but still didn't book accomodations for my stay in the DR (yeah, I'll be there in 2 days) or for my night in New York City. Although, I'm really not stressing and clearly not putting forth much effort into doing this either...it'll get done...as there are tons of accomodations in both cities. Aruba I was a little worried about but found a cheap decent little place right at Eagle Beach...so that was the biggest thing I viewed as a stressor from this whole trip...and that's out of the way...so the rest is smooth sailing.
